The series of 48 Venus statues is the result of collaborative project, in which 2 female artist systematically duplicate the Venus of Willendorf from each other. Each figurine has the same characteristics and at the same time they are all different. Like the whisper game 'Chinese whispers', in which a sentence is whispered through and tries to keep the original message. However, a different message always comes out.
With this project we test the authenticity and originality of both artwork and artist.
The vacuum-shaped Venus figurines, clearly visible from the side, emphasize the technical reproducibility where the original content is missing: a representation of a representation of a representation.
